what fixed it? emailing the host? or the .htaccess file? I created that .htaccess file and placed it in the forums root dir and that did not solve the problem for me? any other suggestions?

im kinda lost here, might you expand a little more on this? on the whole thing lol, i guess my terminology is not that great and im lost! is 'upload_tmp_dir' the same as 'tmp' folder?

yup ... nothin is working and no solution but to restore the DB .. I have yet to do so .. waiting on the WM and the file

I did run upgrade.php a few times and everytime stoped at that one point .. step 7 .. so now im re uploading and goinna try again
