Hi grayloon, unfortunately no one from vbulletin gave me any pointers other than what I posted I did on this thread and Joe D. suggested.
I still continue to get the errors I posted initially....

Nope. It still continues. I provide support myself, so I definitely know to double-check and triple check myself of those steps I have already listed I have done (everyone is human). But nope, still continues....

Its been 5 days, and just got the same error again this morning:


Database error in vBulletin 4.2.0:
Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM session ...

As am not eligible for ticket support at this time since a vB4 forum license only includes 30 days ticket support, really hoping someone here will share what they specifically did when they moved server's...

Performed a test move to new server, all appeared to be good.
Went ahead with going live on new server.

Old server Windows 2003 32 bit, MySQL 5.1.47, PHP 5.2.13, Vbulletin 4.2.0 fix...

I have been reviewing http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/moving_servers but have questions:

Am presently running 4.2.0 (we do not plan on upgrading to 5 yet) on Windows Server 2003 32 bit...

I would recommend first double-checking those files listed in that folder - right-click and view their version and confirm whether they really are updated or not.
If not, than you know they need...

excellent - thank you wayne. I clicked on the Administrative link for the thread and checked Remove redirect and now fixed. And for future incidents will ensure that No redirect is chosen.
