We just finished migrating from an antique dotnetBB forum to vBulletin. I had the old forum set up so that I would get email messages instantly (or well within 15 minutes) if anybody posted anywhere...

I got the search box better centered at least, due to advice given to me in a thread on vbulletin.org. Add the following to the additional.css template (found in CSS templates):

How did you resolve the issue? Because it's not changing for me either. That is, I can change the value of the stylevar, but the actual size of the searchbox doesn't change.

1. Open this file: impex/systems/dotnetBB/000.php
2. Find this line:

Solved! I had to tweak the security settings on MySQL to allow for remote connections. (at least that's what I think did it - I changed several things at once)
