Yeah, I think that's ok. On the further note it seems that the non-legacy postbit has some extra padding in the bottom. Any ideas how to remove this?

Drop down list is just a list of predefined strings, so there should be no ID associated with the values to my knowledge. In my plugin I just use the string value of custom profile field for drop down...

Thanks for the link to event widget khet. If you create general search widget it's not like in vB CMS page though, but I realized that you can customize the templates to make it look like one.
