I have large forum ( 3m posts, 380k thread, 120k blog entries, 60k member, 1m visitor messages)

Database size before upgrade was 3.2GB
Database size After upgrade to vBulletin...

I let it run for more than 45 only in this step then:

OK thanks I will try again. Though I believe that there is a problem because the 3 millions posts finish in two hours so the 120k entries should finish quickly specially my server is very good.

I bought vBulletin 5 since two days. Now I have exactly the same above problem and conditions.

1- test database.(exact copy of mu vbulletin 4.2 database)
2- new, empty directory....

As you can see, I am not saying that you should force all people to use persistent connections. If you review the code above, you can see it depends on the admin to use p connect...

This will affect only php mysql users, not mysqli (check the class code if you have time)....

Actually its quite easy to support mysqli support persistent connection in vBulletin: You only need to replace the following code in class_core.php (vB_Database_MySQLi class) :
