How to show latest posts in external.php (not just threads)

Post it as thinking as if it so hard to upgrade vbulletin.org (3.6 is really overdue), what that means for other sites, who are heavily customized. I don't care about that, but I am curios why, as if...

It is just irony that news on vBulletin.org is that 3.6.x is end-of-life but they are still using it.
