Is your "Home" section set to show more than 1 article? Is your "Home" section "Content From" set to include sub-content? Are the articles actually published?

Think of categories as another way of sorting articles like tags. such as having an article on the "economics of homebuilding". It could be in a category of economics and one on home. Unrelated...

First - Settings > Options > Forum Sidebar and Block Options make sure of the correct settings. Then to add whatever blocks you want goto Forums & Moderators > Forum Blocks Manager

Hover over the name of the category and click the pencil. Left hand side it will say "Per Page" - change to whatever you like.
