Attachment are stored in the file system. The upgrade completed today and it grew.
I just did a test and renamed the album directory and there seems to be no ill effects.

We have a large site, filled with images and videos.

After the upgrade the site grew by about 500 megs.
I'm thinking this has to do with the albums.

Does 4.0 use albums...
