Definitely go for the E5520, try to get faster drives if you are running a large database for better performance.

There is no reason to upgrade to a VPS unless your forums are consuming too many resources of a shared hosting account, and your web host requests that you have exhausted the limits of a shared hosting...

As far as I know HG sends out a warning/notification and upgrades you upon request. That's what I've read on reviews and feedback, question would be best answered by them however.

Are you on a dedicated server or reseller account? 40,000 + members would require a dedicated server, that's quite big. Are you experiencing any load issues currently?

Maybe you can share your budget and requirements with others so they can help you figure out what you are looking for? How big is your vbulletin forums? Statistics? Shared hosting is not always suitable...

Fixed, upgraded to the latest stable then upgraded to the beta 4 and now it works fine. Still yet to hear back from vbulletin team even though the problem has been resolved.

Upgrade Database error
Having trouble upgrading the forums to 3.8 beta 4, running the upgrade script fails on step 4 with the following data base error. Opened a ticket with vbulletin support with no response the entire day....
