Cannot Login as Admin

While attempting to log in to my site I got a blank page with this message:
"There is a serious error and the page cannot be rendered"

Thanks IggyP, but that's exactly what I did - (delete the install file, after upgrade and before going to admin) - although I did delete the "install.php" only from within the install folder...

I had my backup restored and started over, I downloaded a fresh zip file and went through all the steps. This time I found install.php beforehand noting the php was off to the side and deleted it. Uploaded...

It seems to me while doing the vb script update and being prompted to delete install.php but instead deleting the entire install file that this may have been where I went wrong???

Well, upon completing the update script it asked me to remove the install file, which I did, and then it said action needed which was in blue box with a lot of coding, I just clicked OK and then it said...

I'm now preparing my upload files and as per instructions that I should delete the install.php file found in the /upload/core/install/ directory. There is no "install.php"...

Another possibly irrelevant question, should the new security patch be installed before the upgrade to 5.1.0 from 5.0.5 or after, or does it not matter?...

I currently have the max stored PM messages set at 500 to get around the bug in 5.0.5 which was counting notifications as PM, not counting the deletions and would end up saying you have exceeded the max...
