All sites hacked with upgrade

They ran fine on 5.2.5 (patch something) but obviously some bots looking for it and php 7.3!!
All sites were upgraded to 5.5.6 before I even posted.

BUT what is discussions/core/clientscript/codemirror/mode/clike/index.html?...

Maybe this is a coincidence but when I updated the server to php 7.3.13, all of my vb forums were hacked within 24 hours.
Sites were running vb 5.2.5.
Has to be more than just a coincidence...

As I said in the earler post, I got it fixed through the Channel management. There is no /homepage to set as homepage

OK, I got it. Found a way to View Node 1 and then set as homepage through Channel Management.

I see D1 in the Channel management but dont see anyway to see it to know if it is the oiriginal or not. See no real options to do anything.

Navigate to the default homepage:
home.php, homepage.php, default.php just gives "Invalid Page URL"
index.php gets me to the forum.
So unless there is some other name, manually...

Ok, so I thought I might want my forum to load as the homepage as so I saved it as homepage (checked the checkbox) and over-wrote the default. Now not sure sure I want to do that and you cannot uncheck...

I will admit it does behave as if rewrites are not working
The index page shows up unformatted and all the links are 404

It not installing correctly. After install it tries to go to the admincp at root rather than /core. Same with the frontend index.
The result is either nothing (admincp) or unformatted index page....

Thanx. I figured it out. You failed to guess stupidity of the user!
The usergroup was i the database twice in different subforums which apparently confused the system.
