Got it. Never mind. There were two stylevars involved and Firebug is a lifesaver.

It creates the thumbs fine, but the original image is uploaded as is, and understandably breaks the default look.

1) Where would one look to specify size of uploaded images in the Album?...

No dice. I must be doing something wrong. Can you please...
