I noticed the same problem. But refreshing under Firefox almost works and only after doing so I also see changes on Internet Explorer 8. It also differs wether if you are logged in or not. Very strange...

I noticed, that the hash value is also shown for example at the logout link. But since this is the own hash, I guess it's alright? You can also see it here on this forum.

Maybe your IE8 on your desktop is running in ie7 mode. I got the same problem with the space to the right side not being logged in and switching to ie7 compatibility mode.
