It's set to No and is currently set to 644 for read write etc
I changed that setting to yes and then uploaded the old database again, same problem, thanks for the suggestion...

This forum has always been a version 5 site, it's never been upgraded from 4 and i used the .htaccess file from the latest download of 5.6.
