Thanks Luke. That pointed me towards the solution. The VB software was located in the /forum subdirectory which was php 7.2, but the root level was still 7.0.x
Making them the same resolved...

My site is hosted under /forum but if you access via the domain name it redirects to forum as the root.

Upgrading from 4.2.5 -> 5.5.5 PHP versions
Just took advantage of the holiday sale to purchase version 5 today. My hosting company had to keep the PHP version at 7.0.33 to keep vb4.2.5 working.
It looks like v5 needs PHP 7.3 or above,...
