How to allow "Sections" to show more pages

Is there a way to make it so sections won't lose old articles added to it? For instance, if set to 7 articles per section, when the 8th is entered, the oldest is lost (unless it's in a category)....

It didn't work for me commenting it out, but it did work simply by removing from the first template that came up.

Just create a second section and list them there and they won't show up on home page, only the section or category they're in

How can I remove the number of articles listed in the categories column, i.e. category one (3), category two (15), etc. I just want it to have the link to the category, not show how many are in it....

Researching this same topic, and agree, different categories should come up when the user clicks on a different section I would think.
