Thanks, Lynne. Because my forum has been modified so much over the years (by others), sometimes things aren't apparent. I'm attempting to get it reverted to original specs with as little loss of functionality...

Was there a resolution to this problem? I'm working (using a test server install) with version 4.2.0 PL3 to make sure I can do the upgrade from 3.8.7 PL3 on my production server. I am having this exact...Last edited by thbertram; Thu 21 Mar '13, 9:54am.

Thank you. That corrected the problem. To satisfy my own curiosity, does the upgrade process modify one of the uploaded files? ...or do you suspect an error when I uploaded the files originally? I appreciate...

As I said in the OP, I run the upgrade over and over....no fix. This was my logical solution too, but alas! It seems that the only thing that did not upgrade was whatever tells the Admin Panel whether...

Correcting a Dumb Mistake
I was performing an upgrade from 3.8.6 PL1 to 3.8.7 this morning and did a really dumb thing. I copied a config file with the wrong info up to the production server. All of the files are now fixed and...

If we're doing business with a US company, why does my money go through UK? I had to pay extra for exchange fees. There's an argument, albeit weak, that we're doing business with the UK.

I hope everyone is paying attention to this... I went looking for hosting services a while back (keeping the vB4 requirements in mind) and I was surprised how many hosts did NOT have the necessary versions...

If you have an owned license, you can keep running it...it is yours to run...you will just no longer be able to get updates.

My bad... I wasn't thinking clearly... You are correct and sharing a database between the versions would most likely not work.

If you have two independent licenses, there's no reason why you can't use the same dataset. That means you own the 3.x license, and you buy a full new 4.x license...NOT the upgrade. But realize that support...

This may sound odd, but if the CMS was good enough, I could conceive of situations where someone might want to use the features of the CMS without actually presenting the community board. I've never looked...

Careful, renep... this person may not understand that you're joking.
BForum, if you purchase now, on or before October 30, you will pay $130 U.S. dollars for vB4 complete with blogging...

Hey, Anth... I went through a similar thing a while back, but was replacing my info for another. Seems to me that all I had to do (first) was log into the member's area and make sure I was on the list...

Wayne, please clarify point 3 for me... Are you saying that once I download vB4, even if I don't put it online yet, my 3.8.x license becomes invalid? ...or just that it's invalidated when I go live with...

I can't tell you anything on this subject for vB4, but there are some good add-ons for vB3 on the vBulletin.org site. I've used vbStopForumSpam on my site for almost a year and it's been a life-saver....

Will Beta be made available to licensees?
I've not been at the helm of a vBulletin board as a new major release was pending, so I don't know what's customary... Will Beta versions be made available to vB4 licensees for the development of new...
