  • Vb3 vs PhpBB 2.2

I have two owned Vbb licenses but I want to know your opinion.

How do you compare the VB3 to PhpBB2.2 (release in february) ? Features: sub-forums, etc.

The phpBB 2.2 test board is here: http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB22/

    The features: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=88651

    Thx

phpBB cannot even be compared to vB. vB simply blows it away. heck, you can't compare anything to phpBB, 'cos everything, excluding yaBB, is better.

          I'm sold

I've been using PHPbb for awhile, simply because it works, and it's free.... I've looked VB over many times in the past year or so, but have never wanted to shell out the $$$ for it.

I've recently had the opporitunity to look at it a little closer from another board I am a mod at that is using VB. ( I don't get that much out of demos, it's nice to see a functional board with posts to get the real idea )

I've made up my mind, and the $$$ isn't an issue, and I'm going to be switching over as soon as this new VB3 release is out.

It also seems that everyone uses the free BBs, and I think the board suffers for it. I don't see any boards using PHPbb, or any other that have 30,000 members, and I've seen MANY that use VB that have that many.

          Power => Ease of Use => I'm buying VB3.

There is a phpBB with 9,000,000 posts, though I believe it was running on 9 different servers, with a 10th coming soon.

I've done some major modifications to my PHPbb, and now, it's so scattered, and confusing, that I'm sick of messing with it...

I think the VB community seems much more into the quality of the board, over some quick, half-working hacks. I know there are TONS of VB hacks as well, but it seems to me that everything is put together much better.

Plus, my thought would be that you get what you pay for... either nothing... or VB.

I'm making an announcement today to my members so after that, my upgrade to VB will be set in cyber-stone.

I'd still go with vBulletin, though. vBulletin is THE BEST message board software that you can purchase.

Phpbb is the most popular alternative if they can't use vBulletin. Why? Phpbb is free and is in my opinion second best forums.

Hell I started off with phpbb because I couldn't afford it, and then went to vB.
