Converting from phpbb to vbulletin (yes i know i can do it)

i know you can convert from phpbb to vbulletin... but do you have to upload it straight to your live board to get it to work? or can you just upload it to a practice folder first to make sure everything works? i want to upload it and get all my mods and stuff done and then switch over to the vb board. will this be possible when converting? thanks

yes you can convert into a mod'd vBulletin as long as you haven't removed any of the core columns in the database that vBulletin creates.
