  • I'm very interested in buying vBulletin but..

I'm currently using XMB Forums (http://www.xmbforum.com/). My forum has over 35,000 posts but I'm wanting to now move to the more advanced and better featured vBulletin board

The problem is that I'm wondering how to import those 35,000 posts and all my members, private messages, etc into VBulletin. Is there any easy way of me being able to do this?

A response would really be appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Hi there,

Upgrading your community to vBulletin is always a smart step to take.
At the moment, import scripts are in development or beta testing for the following products:
    • Ikonboard 3.x
    • Jelsoft vBulletin 2.2.x
    • XMB 1.6 / DevBB 1.1
XMB is possible I think - at least they are working on it.
You could read this thread to see if they made any progress.

Importers are available as xiphoid stated, but I'm not sure there is a fully working XMB one.

If I remember correctly it imports everything except forum permissionx... I may be a little wrong, though.

I'm 100% sure it imports: Posts, Threads, Members, Private Messages, Forum Names

              CricketWeb,
You can also be sure that the vBulletin team will assist you with any problems with their converters. The support team (JamesUS in particular) spent a great deal of time assisting me and writing custom repair scripts to correct the issue. I am certain that you will be able to import your forums without a problem.

              I hope this helps.

                Thanks for the replies guys

The one thing I'm really afraid of is purchasing vBulletin and then being left high and dry in regard to importing my XMB posts, etc into vBulletin.

Sheddtech has helped convince me though

Does this mean that you will be buying vBulletin? If so, welcome to the club!

99% sure yes. US$160 equals NZ$330 so I have to consider that first

Also, whether my members are happy using vBulletin

                        Thanks Joe

The one thing that I can't help but worry about is managing to merge my posts from XMB into vBulletin.

I really do hope that if I run into problems people will give me a ahnd.

If James replies to this thread anytime soon, he should be able to give you the information on what the XMB importer can do...like sit up, stand, bark

No i'm just joking....but it should be able to do what Cary said.
