  • Might move from Fusetalk

I know, you prolly never heard of it, but it is a Cold Fusion based board.

My question is, I am looking at http://www.invisionboard.com/ and it seems to be very robust.

Why should I pay for a solution when there are free ones like the above?
Do you not have a comparative matrix somewhere to show differences between the popualr boards?

    Thanks,
    Derek

Well, with the board I mentioned above I have the option to buy support for a lot less than Vb.

        Priority Support Service - $60/year
Your special account will have access to private support forums normal members cannot see.
You will have lifetime access to the Invision Power Services Customer Service Center.
Service Ticket access will allow you to submit priority technical tickets for our highly experienced staff to work with you. This means you will get private, one-on-one help without having to post on our support forums.
Phone support inside the US and UK (toll-free in the US).
Installation of Invision Power Board is included if you need this service (usually $35 each).
What else can you tell me?

there is an excellent demo (fully working one) at
          http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo

          username: admin
          password: admin

Gives you a very good idea what type of product you are purchasing. In addition, Support Is excellent. I had a problem a few days ago and they got back to me to help fix the problem within 15 minutes! Talk about fast!!

          I can't complain!

If you think about it, $60.00/year. Suppose you run your board for 3 years and you buy support for all three years. You ending up pay $180.00.

vBulletin costs $160.00 and you get support included ( i believe lifetime support )

Keep on paying an additional $60.00 for invisionboard, you can pay for 2 years of updates (downloading vBulletin from the Members Area)

          Soo.....

4 years of Support from Invision Board + Free Invision Board Software = $240.00 US Dollars...

          or...

1 vBulletin Board Software + Lifetime support + 2 years of renewal to members download area @ $30.00/year = $220.00

          Can't complain
