  • Recommended Hosting Providers

    I'm considering purchasing vBulletin.

I reviewed the list of vBulletin System Requirements.

Is there a list of shared hosting providers that work well with vBulletin?

I am considering using Hostinger's "Business Web Hosting" package.

Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid we do not make official recommendations, but we do have a hosting review forum here:

Discuss PHP and MySQL hosting here. Find out which hosts people like, and which to stay well clear of.

You can also look at http://www.webhostingtalk.com, an independent review site. Sometimes you will find hosting specials there that aren't available elsewhere on the web.

As a side note, I use Hostinger and have had no issues with them.

    - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)

You can also look at vBulletin Cloud.

Thank you very much for your great assistance.

        Hostinger:

It is good to know someone successfully uses Hostinger with vBulletin.
If I go this route, I will purchase their shared "Business Web Hosting" while I set everything up.
Afterwards, I will upgrade to their cloud hosting Plan.

        vBulletin Cloud:

I think using vBulletin is an excellent option.
However, what happen if a user purchases the cloud option but later decides to use the non-cloud option?
I am just thinking that I would have to repurchase a new license and migrate the website to a new server?

        Again, thanks for the assistance.

With vBulletin Cloud, the license is included in the monthly cost. The cost also includes upgrades, server maintenance, and outgoing email.

If you decide to switch to a download license, you would then need to purchase a separate license, download your vBulletin Cloud backup, and restore that on the server. You would be responsible for software upgrades or pay $149.00 for each version upgrade. You may be responsible for server maintenance (depending on hosting) and making sure your outgoing email is configured so it doesn't register as spam.

Does vBulletin Cloud include the Mobile Suite Upgrade?

Edit: I think that vBC does not allow for add-ons.

Yes, you can add the Mobile Suite to your vB Cloud license - vB Mobile Suite doesn't install anything additional to your installation hence why it can be used with vB Cloud.

You can't use third-party add-ons as these require the upload of files or changes to the database which is not permitted.
