  • Migration from vbulletin 4.2.4 to 5.6.2

My Client uses a very old Version of Vbulletin (4.2.4) with thousands of users and 100,000 of posts and like to license and migrate to the actual Version. I would like to get a feeling, how complicated that will be:

    - Is there any wait to migrate or need it a new setup of new software?
    - I guess any kind of Design and Template has to be done from scratch
    - Can be the User Data including Password be migrated or did we have to send out to all Users E-Mails with new Passwords?
    - Can be the Content easily migrated or what kind of effort has to be done to migrate all Postings including Threats?

All data is migrated except vBulletin 4.X events. Legacy Passwords will be migrated. The system will update them when the user logs in.

    vBulletin 4.X styles are incompatible.

The basics are - download the files, upload the files into a new directory, point the configuration file at the database. Run the upgrade scripts. If their database is stock and doesn't have a lot of changes, then it should run through the steps and they will end up at 5.6.2 after a few hours.
