  • User Database fields and customization?

    Greetings,

I am going to deploy some forum or BB environment and I am weighing VBulletin against others, which I won't name here because I don't think it's cool to write about a company's competitors on their website.

Is it possible to have user database fields that are only visible by a user and a supermoderator? I want to know if it is possible for a supermoderator to use the user database for tracking status or membership in an organization or other fields that shouldn't be public view.

    Fields like:
    • Notes
    • Dues paid / date of payment
Also, is it possible to add custom fields? Fields that would make sense to an organization (year joined, class year, etc). If yes, can custom fields be designated as supermoderator only versus viewable to other users?

    Thank you,

    Jeff

You can create custom profile fields in the AdminCP. You can set these fields in any combination of required, private, or editable. Viewing these fields is restricted by a usergroup permission so any group with that permission can view them as you deem necessary. You can create custom fields that are single line text, multiline text, selection lists, radio buttons, and checkboxes. You can also apply regex verification of these fields to control formats if necessary.
