A vBulletin 5 site can contain roughly 2.14 Billion nodes safely. This includes channels. However, you'll reach resource limits of your server before you get to that number. If you plan to have hundreds of channels, you should use the Social Groups to handle these. They scale better than forum channels for a variety of technical reasons.

The word invisible has no special meaning in vBulletin. Permissions control who can see which channels. This is better handled for large numbers of groups with the Social Group system as Groups can be made Public, Private or Member only without changing usergroup permissions.

Is there a maximum number of channels and subchannels

We are building a vb .5.3.4 forum and would like to have large number of forums and sub forums (channels) is there a maximum allowed number? Also is invisible a prohibited name, i.e. does naming a subchannel invisible make it invisible even if it's set to be visible in channel and group permissions.

How does one increase the number of groups that can be created? I am the admin and I have only a maximum of 5 groups and then I have to delete in order to create anymore. Thanks in advance...
