Well here we are 2 yrs later, the .org website is now up to only 86 mods available compared to around 2k mods for vB4.

Now, there will be no more security fixes for vB4.

would like some input on what you guys have done?

did u upgrade to vB5 or did u move on to another board?

I would suggest you to wait a year or two before switch to VB5. Especially if you using different mods from vb.org

Its supposed to be >30 posts when it changes.

Since you now have 35, I'll take a guess that either its cron based, and thats not run yet - or its broke.

ya I tried it, not digging it at all. Was just concerned with all the reading about vb4 exploits. Hopefully the latest version of 4 is safe.

What they said. But in case if you are interested in having a hands-on trial of new functionalities in vB5, you could request a vB5 trial so you could try the Sitebuilder functionality.

In that case, I would stick with vB4 and just upgrade to 4.2.3 or 4.2.4.
There are far more modifications for vB4 than for vB5, vB5's different architecture has limited the supply of modifications somewhat.

If you are on vB4, and it is working well for you, and you have modifications that you consider essential to your community - then you should stay there.
Same applies to people on vB3.

Ask yourself what you want to achieve by upgrading - if you can tell us that, we can offer some guidance.
If the answer is 'to be on the latest newest version' then that's not a good reason - for that, you should upgrade to the latest version of your current branch (which for vB4 is 4.2.3 / 4.2.4).

Why are you wanting to upgrade? That determines whether or not it's "worth it."

    Is VB5 Worth it

After all this time, I only see 72 modifications on .org for this product. Should I stick with vb4 or is the upgrade worth it.
