Photo Albums

We're currently on 3.8.2 and are thinking of upgrading to 5.2. I've seen some references to photo albums but I can't find any details. Could anyone point me to where I should look, or answer the following?

We have a small number of users who maintain photo albums for all the other forum users to access read-only. Is this something that vBulletin could support or would we need another product alongside? We are not looking for anything sophisticated! We'd need to nest the albums and assign a bit of text to each photo. That's pretty much it!

Photo Albums in vBulletin 5.2 work the same as Photo Albums in 3.8.2. That is users can create Photo Albums and share images on their user profiles. If you go to your name above and select "My User Profile", you can see this on the Media Tab.

In addition to this, users can create Photo Gallery topics. This is done by clicking on the camera icon above the editor. You can upload a number of images, give them descriptions and then people can comment on that topic like any discussion thread. In addition to the images being added to the topic, we add them to a global Album on the user's profile.

Finally, each forum will have a photos view (if allowed by the Admin). This will show all images in that forum in a gallery-like display and is accessible from the tabs shown on each forum's topic list page.

I had no idea they were in 3.8.2! I'll have a look. I found some references in the online manual and there were some clips on YouTube too.

How hard would it be to allow nested albums?

Clear answer, thanks We'll look at some of the plugins available on 4.2 (Dragonbyte looks interesting) and see what they offer. They may not have nested albums either, it may be time to get our users introduced to tag clouds, tags and categories.

vBulletin 4.X addons do not work on vBulletin 5.X. I just want to make that clear.
