If purchased between now and VB 5 release.

I have a question regarding purchasing another license. Because of the change of VB licensing rules a little while back, I have been a little gun shy about purchasing while another version is near completion. My question is if I purchase the suite right now, knowing that the release of VB5 is weeks away, will I be automatically upgraded to VB 5? I have a site hat I am working on and have basically been waiting for the new release.

Also I am debating about using the CMS suite version. I have an integration for VB with Joomla to use if I dont get the suite but joomla is so cumbersome and I have never been really fond of wordpress. Is the suite a good CMS platform? Have not used it yet.

The release of vBulletin 5 may be some time away yet. Because no upgrade path information has been released regarding vBulletin 5, no one as of yet knows what will happen. However, if you are intending to purchase vBulletin 4 Suite then you may as well do so now because vBulletin 5 will be without CMS functionality for atleast two updates as stated here.

When CMS support for vBulletin 5 is released however, you'll be able to upgrade vBulletin 4 Suite to vBulletin 5 while keeping hold of your content.

      Gun Geek,

I don't know that "weeks away" is what I would use to describe the release. It is still in Alpha and it has only been stated the release is expected "this year."

It has also recently been made public that VB5 will be a staggered release- the CMS part of the app (what we would call as CMS anyway) will not be available at release. No date has been set for when VB5 will be complete with all features but it will not be withing days or even weeks of initial release.

VB4 has some significant life left in it.
