vBulletin Paid Subscriptions?

Hello experts,
Not sure if this had been asked before. If I would like to put some video tutorials onto my forum and I only allow members to buy a monthly subscription fee from me in order to access those video tutorials, how should I be doing that? I heard something about Paid Subscriptions and I also saw it in the Admin Control Panel. I have not paid much attention to it. Does it help? What/how must I do to have my little idea come true?

The Paid Subscriptions feature of vBulletin allows you to set up a subscription for your users. Various aspects of this can be adjusted to suit your needs such as the amount that is required, the length that the subscription lasts and if the user will be moved to a different usergroup.

As well as this, you can also allow access to certain forums when the subscription is active. So in your case, you could set up a monthly subscription which would allow a user to have access to a forum called 'Video Tutorials'. Now when the user purchases the subscription, access to the 'Video Tutorials' forum will be granted which will contain your tutorials. However, once the subscription is over, the access to the 'Video Tutorials' forum will be revoked and they will need to renew. It's fairly straight forward to setup and can be customized to a great extent to suit your specific needs.

Thanks AakifN. When it comes to subscription, how does vBulletin handles the money transactions? What I am worried is members may make private arrangement where one buys and then downloads all the videos and distribute them freely. Any way to control or track this? Any way to make it that members can only view the videos in the forum and cannot download the videos onto their own computers?

Well, you can upload them to YouTube and make sure they're unlisted. That way, only people with the link can view them.

Also, there's not really a good way to control leaking. I just say if you leak content, you'll have your premium membership revoked permanently and you'll be banned for a month.

In your admincp, you can go to Paid Subscriptions -> Payment API Manager to view all the available options for processing transactions.
