What is the advantage of an integrated CMS?

We have used the forum only for our website (using vBulleting 3.8)

We are looking at adding fixed content.

What is the advantage of the CMS on vBulletin over just developing the site with something like Word Press?

Is there an example of a good site which integrates CMS and a forum well?

I have limited technical skills, so ease of use and learning would be a very strong factor.

    Thanks

Well, integration and ease of use for one. You can see the CMS in action by clicking Articles at the top of your page.

      Thanks Micro

Could you give specific examples of "integration and ease of use"?

I have read some of the articles and I see, for example, that a good post can be promoted to an article. That would be a useful feature.
Having only one log on and password would be useful too, I suppose.

Comments, rating systems, tiered permissions with user roles for adding content, access to content by user roles, photo gallery, user points for participating in content, signing up people for your forum easily that land on your content and want to participate somehow.....

None or some of this might apply to your site.
        Hmmm. Cheese.

Wordpress, Joomla are great for a simple internet presence. I love WordPress for the beautiful styles that they have, just like Joomla.
But if you are planning to have a lot of users, then nothing can beat vBulletin. They are basically the database kings.
A few years ago I had joomla bridged with vB. Once I reached 1,000 users, that Joomla kept on crashing. In fact this is what turned me into developing: just to reproduce some major Joomla addons. And as I moved along I realized that the sky is the limit. If you follow vB development, you'll see that they left all the other guys a thousand years behind. And thank God that I did. Now I got 30,000 members and no worries.

The mod that I am currently working on, I call it cmsMagick. With it, you could turn your site like CNN, or Time magazine or anything you want.
