Photopost vBGallery is excellent, with a great user interface, ease of use, and integration.

Photopost looks like it was developed in the late 1990's. Despite my own misgivings about it, my co-admin coughed up the money for us to buy Photopost. So I bought it and installed it. It's total rubbish, ugly control panel, quirky settings, and lacking major functionality. It cannot do basic things that vBGallery does with its eyes closed.

You will have to use a system that's called impex that will enable to you to merge your existing forum from IPB to vB4.
If you are struggling to get this done always ask for some form of assistance.

We use Photopost vBgallery.

For vBulletin, I would recommend photopost for your gallery. I have 2 vb sites and 1 ipb site (with ip.gallery). Photopost is far superior to ip.gallery.

I was thinking about the CMS.
But is vbulletin under updating a lot, do they implement new things now and then or is it dead?

vBulletin does not have a comparable module to IP.Downloads or IP.Gallery. There are some photo gallery add-ons for vBulletin, but I do not know if they have an importer for IP.Gallery.

You would have to start from scratch, or find/buy a vBulletin style that looks similar to your needs.

You should carefully evaluate the functionality and feature set of vBulletin and the vBulletin CMS to make an informed decision.
