  • MyBB to VBulletin

    Hello there,

I am currently having an average to large sized forum, which is still growing. I am currently running MyBB 1.6.14 and I am wondering would it be possible to convert that one to vBulletin software. Since I am really considering vBulletin software. I also seem to prefer it over other software.

    Thanks in advance

You can use Impex to import your MYBB forum, unfortunately you can only import into vbulletin 4 but you can install 4 with a vbulletin 5 license then upgrade to vb 5 if you wish.

Just to make I understand you correctly. I am able to convert my MyBB to vB with a vB 5 license. However I have to install a vB 4 --> convert MyBB to vB --> upgrade to 5.

You have to install a new, empty vb 4 forum, import your Mybb data via impex and you will have a vb 4 forum with all your mybb users and threads, then you can upgrade the vb 4 to vb 5. Sounds complicated but what it means is there is no importer for vb 5, only vb 4.

Hmm okay, thanks a lot then, I probably will buy a vBulletin 5 license soon then!

Before you start Impex there are a few manual edits you should make to the files to save yourself hassle down the road-

Hmm I'll make sure I've done that before I actually convert. Thank you.
