  • Adding Mobile Publishing - and starting with a test site

I wanted to purchase the mobile suite and add it to my license - but before I add it to the main (existing) site, I'd like to setup a locked test site, publish the app in the andriod market and learn everything first.
Don't want to publish a crap mobile app on my main site = want to learn the "spit and polish" so I don't make a fool of myself.
    Is this a problem?

You're allowed to have a regular locked test site with the Vbulletin license - does this extend to the mobile app as well?

    Thanks!

Well locked test site would need to be none publicly accessible password protected using htaccess..

So based on not being publicly accessible if you publish on Android market it's then publicly accessible..

Second the htaccess password would block the app from communicating with the API as app wouldn't popup with Username/Password box..

    So I believe no..

Ah, I see...... thanks for the answer.

So then, how do you test the mobile app before rolling it out?
I want to have all the bugs worked out and be real familiar with it prior to offering it on the main site.

Install on your device before submitting to Android Market

On your phone go into settings > applications and enable option to install apps from unknown sources then you can email yourself the APK or upload somewhere on your web server and then visit that URL to download then can test as much you want before submitting it to the Android Market..
