This is not a built in option, probably wouldn't pass Apple testing. You can charge for your app however if you want, recoup money that way.

Does it have user group permissions so we could choose which users could use the app?
Mobile suite generates less income due to limited ad space. We might as well disable the ads
and limit its usage to those who donate or subscribe only.

Is the mobile API fully functional or are there known limitations for it?

Unsure honestly... You can try the demo by going to Google Play or Apple App store and search for vbulletin.com - download the app and it will let you view this forum via the mobile app. This forum has groups, so if you see them, it works.

For vB 5, tapatalk lost it's unread feature (forum) and the site doesn't know if/when that feature is coming back. As of today, my forums doesn't even load on tapatalk but it does for other members of my site. Just FYI from my experience.

It uses the vBulletin Mobile API, some hooks get used, unsure if they all execute. You shouldn't count on being able to modify it- the source code is not released for the Mobile Suite- you'll download the already compiled apps.

Does it ignore vB hooks like Tapatalk/Forum Runner does?

The Mobile Suite offers the least expensive "Branded" solution of the ones you mentioned. It is the least expensive way to have your own apps in the Google Play and Apple App stores named for your forum. Unlike the general Tapatalk/ForumRunner the Apps, it will only work with your forum.

You can set your own ads or even sell the apps if you want (though most customers list them for free.)

The Mobile Suite also works on Blogs ad Articles (Articles currently only part of VB4 suite, coming soon to VB5) where as the others only work on forums/threads/posts.

That said if you are looking at "Branded" solutions you should consider the branded ForumRunner solution as well, it is more expensive but has features like push notification.

Mobile suites / tapatalk / forum runner

Saw the new ad for mobile suite 1.5. I'm confused by what this actually does, and why anyone would need it.

What does it offer that the standard phone browser or Tapatalk/Forum Runner doesn't? Thanks.
