Importing SMF from a subdomain to vBulletin

Before I purchase vB, I would like to know if it is possible to import SMF 2.0 RC4 to vBulletin?

Also, the SMF forum I want to import is on a sub domain. Is it possible to import sub domain to sub domain, or do I need to purchase a domain for that?

The forum I want to import is new, with only about 17,000 posts.

    Thanks..

Yes, we have an importer for SMF. You can read about it here:

Please note that since SMF passwords are encrypted, they cannot be imported. Your users will need to reset their passwords after the import. You can read more about this here:

I could have sworn I started a thread in the appropriate area for some info, but I can't find it now. I don't know if it was deleted, or what happened.

I will ask my question here, and if I need to again make another thread, please tell me.

I purchased Vb, and installed it per the online manual. Following the instructions, it had me upload the Upload folder, and not install in the root.

So, what I have now is a weird url. http://www.mydomain.com/the name it had me change the forum folder to.

            Shouldn't it be http://www.mydomain.com?

If you want vBulletin in the root of your site, you should have uploaded the contents of the upload folder to the root on your server. To move from a sub-directory to the root:

                  - change the Forum URL in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Site Name / URL / Contact Details
                  - move all vBulletin files from the subfolder to the root

If you have any further issues, please post in the vBulletin 4 Questions, Problems & Troubleshooting forum.
                  Vote for:

                  - Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe (vB6)
                  - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)
