  • From phpBB to vBulletin

    Hi all;
    Just purchased a vBulletin licence and I do have some questions since I'm moving from phpBB.

    1. Will the process be straightforward?
    2. What will be kept and what will be miss? (Internal links, users avatars, users messages…)
    3. Will I be able to install vBulletin locally on my machine?

    That's it for now!

    1. You install vBulletin, then install ImpEx, then do a test import from phpBB to vBulletin. This all happens without any disruption to your phpBB forum. After double-checking that the test went ok, then you take down your phpBB forum and do the migration.

    2. Passwords will be reset so users will have to set new passwords. Avatars mostly stay but some will need to be re-done. Posts and messages copy over. Private Messages can be a little wonky. You will have to set up Usergroups and Permissions. You'll need to re-do Smilies. Internal Links, you'll want to use a script at to make those keep working.

    3. Why would you install vBulletin on your computer?

      Thank you!

      1. Ok!

      2. May I have a link for the script?

      3. Just to make some tests...

      Thanks once again!

        Guys, I'm migrating my forum and I would really need that script to rebuild internal links…

        Can anybody give a link please?

        Thank you!
