I tried vBulletin 4 CMS yesterday...

I was at a friends house yesterday and he let me play with his vBulletin-CMS admin-panel.
I must say that it wasn't really what I was expecting. I'm glad I tried it out before I did buy it.

The style-manager didn't work as I expected. I thought I was going to choose colors with ease from the color-panel and then just push a button to save it but it turn out the color-panel was just for reference. (?)

I asked him how to edit the mainpage so I could have my forum there and not any articles and he didn't know. I looked myself but couldn't find the option to change it. How do I change the mainpage?

I'm sorry to say that I dont really see the advantage of vBulletin over free forum-scripts.
It was not what I was expecting at all.
Can you believe this? The developers overlooked one of the most important features of a forum!

Right, that's quite simple. You merely disable the CMS Product in the Admin Control Panel.
That will leave you with a forum layout (like a "Forum Only" installation) with no CMS articles or functions.

You could always learn it on the live demo of vBulletin 4 Publishing Suite, including full access to the admin control panel. You can set one up for your own use from this page (The demo is active for 24 hours. If you feel you need more time, reply to this ticket with the DemoID and ask for an extension.):

The MainCSS page was deprecated in the move to vB4 however it was left there for reference so that people would be able to see the colours they used in specific areas. There is a request in now to remove it as, 1 year on, we don't really need it there any more.

We have a section here in our own CMS on Styling which may help:

      Vote for:

      - Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe (vB6)
      - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)
