  • Imprting RSS feeds to create threads

    Hi

In Invision Board you can import RSS feeds to create threads to popululate forum categories, can this also be done in VBulletin?

  • #2
Yes, there is an RSS Feed Posterbot in vbulletin. You can read about it here - http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/rssposter

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

I installed and enabled the RSS, it's perfect in creating new threads for every RSS topic. But I don't see it updating even though I selected to update-interval every 10min.

        any clue ?

Could be a couple of things,

            1. No new feeds are present for the robot to post

            2. If it is a inactive site, the robot won't post unless someone is signed into the forum to make the scheduled tasks run

Most likely #1 because if he's looking by definition someone is logged in... When I first learned how RSS worked I thought it would be great, a way to get some posts and spur conversations on weekends and other slow times... Unfortunately it seems whoever runs various RSS feeds are on Monday - Friday 9 to 5 schedules... Almost nothing gets updated over night and over weekends... worse if you limit the number of posts at a time to 1 or 2 and an update comes in with 10 new items it's not like you get all 10 over the course of a day with a few hours between each download... Instead you only get the first 1 or 2 posts and no more from that update at all. The RSS section of VB could use some serious updating.
