  • Want to convert phpBB3 to vB, but what about SERPs?

    Hello,

I have a phpBB3 forum which I want to convert into vBulletin. Now, my phpBB forum uses URL rewrites for topics, forums, members, etc.

I wanted to know if after conversion from phpBB to vBulletin, will the old urls get redirected to the new ones generated by the vBulletin? That is to say, is there a tool which can help redirect all the old links to new ones without losing SERPs?

    FIY:

    The present topic url:
    Code:
    http://www.myforum.com/japanese-scientists-unveil-baby-robot-t9253.html
    The present forum url:
    Code:
    http://www.myforum.com/technical-chat-news-and-tricks.html

    Thanks.

I don't think you shouldn have a big problem with topics since they have the thread ID in the URL, but the forum url's will have to be manually redirected since they don't have the forum ID in the URL. (stock vB 4.x)
You should be able to get those exact URL's if you use a product called vBSEO. (paid)

      ThreadIDs change during import.

But there is a script over at vBulletin.org which will allow your old thread links to point to new ones.
