I'm a little confused about the new pricing structure. I purchased an owned license this year for $180. My intent was to keep buying upgrades for $40 per year. However, with the new system, I would have to pay $195 to continue with the forum and get the upgrades or right now I can get the suite for $160 which will give me the upgrades too. However, if I had purchased the $100 1 year license, it looks like my price would be the same. Is that correct? So if I were to upgrade, I would have the license for the same amount of time and same benefits as if I had went with the 1 year, but it would have cost me $80 less?

If you have an active license you get the forum software free.. But will need to get another license for the suite.. Hope this helps. -
I know man, worth buying it though, lol I bought the forum a week ago and now want to get cms and blog and its hard, lol.... But with CMS you can always disable itComment

It's an owned license which before meant that I only got upgrades for a year, and then it was $40 to continue to get it for another year. Does this mean I get the upgrades just until the end of my year, or do I still get them after that now that there is no $40 option to continue to get them?Comment

I think when you buy the forum license thats it you get updates until the next major upgrade which is 5, no more of this 40 a year type.. but not too sure about that.Comment

Once your license expires (current vb3 license that is), you will NOT be able to download any new releases of vb4.
Once vb5 presale comes in, expect to pay another $175 to upgrade to that, they may offer the $130 deal again, but who knows, expect vb5 presale to be in around 18-24 months time.Comment

They are no longer offering the $40 renewal, instead, to upgrade once your license expires you will have to pay $175 (or $160 for the suite now).

This is all guessing though as nothing has been said about vb5, and definately no confirmation regarding upgrade costs this price is something scare mongers have decided to post to keep everyone in the bad mood and the anit-IB site that continues to grow around.Comment

This is not a scare tactic and the guessing is a problem that IB can remedy by telling customers that a vB 4 license will last a guaranteed minimum amount of time without a need to upgrade. The only guessing has been some 18-24 month figure floated here by the powers that be but that doesn't mean it won't be 12-16 months.Comment
