Now I would have to advise and to install others vbulletin for my customers and would want a information.
Mysql has gpl o commercial license, Vbulletin commercial.

    Thank you

What do you mean? Anyone can distribute applications which use MySQL.

You do not need no mysql license whatsoever, because vB does not come packed with any mysql code. You need to download mysql at at their own website and set it up on your server. No license is needed to distribute software that merely uses mysql databases.

vBulletin does not and never has interfaced with MySQL directly. Nor does it include any MySQL libraries or code within its own source code. Finally it does not include any calls to any MySQL code or libraries within its source code.

It uses the MySQL layers built within PHP to perform database. PHP is published under an Open Source license that allows commercial development and is compatible with both vBulletin and the FLOSS exception in the MySQL license.

We do not need to license or redistribute MySQL and have never done so. In fact there is no reason to do so.

                  From the site you linked:
For OEMs, ISVs, and VARs who distribute MySQL with their products,
This is not the case, as Zachery stated in #2. Either believe it or not, it's true anyway. If you don't believe the vBS representatives here, go ask at mysql's place. The information will be the same. No offense, but english seems not to be your mother language. Are you sure you understand correctly what's written on that page?

                  Edit: Beat me, Wayne

I know the gpl license and the derivative work

The Foss Exception (http://www.mysql.com/about/legal/lic...oss-exception/) allows developers of FOSS applications to include Sun's MySQL Client Libraries (also referred to as "MySQL Drivers" or "MySQL Connectors") with their FOSS applications.

Well, Php is in the Foss list, only that unfortunately is previewed only the version 3.0/3.01 (http://www.mysql.com/about/legal/lic...oss-exception/)

I am not saying these things for to create confusion. I have seen only today. Also i development in php and wanted to understand as vbulletin it is organized, for my customers.

                    Sorry for my speeches

For correctness it i must say that, after to have inquired have uncovered that:
The version 3.0/3.01 is not the version of php, but version of license di php, therefore php 4 and 5 are licensed with version 3.01 http://www.php.net/license/
But the thing was not simple like said.

                      Best regards
