The is no $175 price for Forums

When I see the price of the forums it says $195, why is everyone saying $175?

You cannot purchase the forum upgrade at this time. The emphasis is on the Suite. We will add it as soon as we can along with the discounts for inactive owned licenses. Hopefully today as all the issues get worked out.

lol, yeah, wonder why that is.

Come VB4 -> 5 upgrade time you won't be able to downgrade to the forum classic version, or you're hoping that people will make use of the blogs and CMS and won't be able to.

Then they have to pay the suite upgrade price instead of the cheaper forums upgrade price.

That's why the suite is cheaper now, they want to get people onto it and then make more come VB5 upgrade time.
        Regards

        Steve.

They would need to be very careful with this strategy, though, to not overcharge on upgrades to future releases. If they start corralling everyone into the Suite version (especially with some people not needing some of the components that will come with it), then if the renewal price is too high on VB5, although painful, people may switch to other options out there. It costs a lot more $ to get new customers than to keep existing ones...so hopefully they understand this and do what they should do to not drive away their existing customers (which I'm not too sure about given the higher upgrade pricing to existing customers and the way they are handling those that paid for the blog component already).
