hi i have a very important question to ask, for almost 2 years i have been using vbulletin not knowing about the license (iligal), now that i recived a email asking me to buy license i wanted to ask: i want to buy the license but will there be any problems if i do? if i give my personal information to buy the license will the sue me for the time i have used it iligally, my country has no copyright laws i think but i dont know for sure, now i am on a cybercafe asking this beucase ofthat.

MY QUESTION IS WILL I BE PROSECUTED WHEN I BUY THE LICENSE BECAUSE THE YEARS I HAVE BEEN USING ILIGALLY THE FORUM? WILL I BE SUED OR HAVE TO PAY MILLONS OF DOLLARS AS PUNISHMENT OR SOMETHING OR ONLY THE NORMAL 195 THE LICENSE COST???

I AM SORRY I DIDNT KNOW I HAVE TO PAY, AND MY MOM WONT GIVE ME HER CARD IF I DONT HAVE AN ANwer if there will be some kind of legal punishment or if once i buy the licence it will be all right.

The header in every single vbulletin file says "VBULLETIN IS NOT FREE SOFTWARE" and you would've had to edit your config file to install the board.

Ignorance isn't an excuse to be honest.

To answer your question, I doubt Jelsoft is out to randomly sue everyone. Just pay for a licence.

I have some good and bad news for you. The bad news is that they already have your information. The good news is that whenever you go "white" won't punish you for the time you used it "Black". However if you don't go "white" you have to take Vbulletin as soon as possible. Why would they scare off potential legit customers?

i dont know, but a friend of my mom was sued for 500000 by microsoft for using iligal windows on his offices (microsoft has legal representation inm my country) piracy is the norm in 99.99% software in this ****hole :P

I removed the copyright from my forum - because I didn't knew that I have to pay for it...Anway...some weeks ago I received an email from Vbulletin saying: Put the copyright or pay for the branding free version...of course I paid for the branding free version....

They have beenmore then fair to me....And I promise: It was not my intention to save money....it was just stupid not to read all conditions at VB...was my fault...

Anyway if you don't answer with positive answers that you are willingly to cooperate you are screwed. So you have nothing to lose currently if you go legit. If I was you I should get the anti-piracy service pleased. They just wish you to go legit or shut the site down.

all that data is fake and the domain was registered in a friends house, my domain registar dosnt have copyright policy because everything is iligal here, but i want to buy it to support the vbulletin makers and be able to download mods and that

They will not sue you or charge you for the time you used it.

I had a pirated version a few years ago that i used to test on my server. Since Jelsoft does not provide a downloadable demo version, that was my only option. Of couse i had every intention of buying it as soon as i was done testing it.

Buy it. You wont regret it.
