email saying "preferred customer $130" - how do I make use of it?

I am confused I had an email saying this

"As a preferred customer with an active license, we are excited to offer the vBulletin Publishing Suite at a pre-sale discount price of only $130 (over 50% off regular price). This is a truly limited one-time special offer giving you $120 off the upgrade price but will expire on Friday October 30, 2009."

But when I log in to try and benefit from this offer I find it is $250

    Any advice??

Do you have a currently active owned or leased license? If so, you can qualify for the upgrade. Select the $250 option which should then turn into the $130.00 option. (If your license is active)

If your owned or leased license is not currently ACTIVE, you'll have to pay the $235....

The $250 display is an error, which should be fixed in the next day or so. (posted by a VB team member somewhere around here)

Bottom line: Jelsoft lied to you.

Obviously you must be logged in as a licensed user first.

I logged into the customer area this morning and upgraded at the reduced prices. It works.

Nope. If the owned license isn't current you have to pay more than a current NEW license.

          Thanks Jelsoft!

If your owned license isn't current, then you can continue running the version that you are currently running with no changes

              or

you can wait a day or two until they fix the web site and buy 4.0 as a pre-release version

              or

you can wait until 4.0 is released and buy it then if you want it.

It appears, but IB hasn't said so yet, that that email was sent not only to those who qualify for the discount, but also to many who did not qualify.

You will have to either choose the $195 (forum only) or $235 (suite) option when you are ready to upgrade to version 4.

As it stands now, you are in a position to continue on with your current license until you are ready to pay to upgrade. Once you do so, you'll have a license for VB4 and no more yearly renewal fees.

@Joe Blow: Add something constructive or be quiet.

EDIT: dammit Zeloreo beat me. :P

I dont get it either. I got the email, I have an active leased license, and when I try to upgrade I get the $250 price. No matter how far I go.

I did log in with my customer number and pass (in the new vbulletin.com) and ordered the special upgrade. No Probs, all went well.

                      Cheers from Holland

I never got the email. After owning 4 licenses over 9 years, I guess I'm not a valued customer! Then again do I really want to re-up again this year for software that is sight unseen? Got some swampland in Alaska.

It's pretty unusual for software developers to be requesting money for future promised upgrades no one has seen and tested. I don't think it's a good idea to buy software based on promises. Talk is one thing and actual development of stable, high quality software with intelligent design is another. The "shotgun" upgrade offer makes me very suspicious. Even putting aside all the other valid concerns that everyone has raised, from a consumer point of view, it's just not intelligent to buy vaporware. I think vBulletin customers should just say "NO."

There are still bugs in the ordering system, just sit back and relax or make a phone call to Jelsoft.
