      I disagree. Look at the last change or the past ones. I think there will be some days or weeks notice before the announced changes take effect. It is quite normal when introducing financial changes.

          But this situation is different; they are going to be offering discounts to those who maintain active licenses when the changes are made. If they announce the discounts before they put it into effect, then everybody and their brother has time to purchase a license in order to qualify for the discount.
          It wouldn't be much of a special discount if that happens.

            But, for someone in my position, I want the discount to be significant enough to justify spending $60 on an upgrade today. I will be getting vb4 and I want to get 3.8.3 (I'm using an older version) - but I dont want to pay for 3.8.3, and then end up paying MORE if the 'special discount' isn't 'special' enough.
            It's an omen...

              Either you have an active license and pay little-to-nothing to upgrade to vB 4, or you have either no license or an inactive license and pay the full upgrade fee for vB 4, whatever that may be.

              Have active license -> Pay X% of new vB 4 upgrade fee
              Have inactive license -> Pay 100% of new vB 4 upgrade fee
              Have no license -> Pay 100% of new vB 4 upgrade fee

              That's the gist I get.

                    nobody knows what's going to happen. I renewed my license in march. When I renewed I paid for upgrades and support for 1 year. As far as I'm concerned I should not have to pay for vb4 as long as it's within my 1 year of upgrades/support

                      No, it won't be the X%. If you don't have an active license, then you would be subject to the full fee (100%) - no discount.

                        WHAT?!

                        Try re-reading, it really is very simply. I see what you're saying;

                        IF I had an active license, I will pay X% to get vb4. IF I have an expired owned license, I will have to pay 100% to get vb4. But, in order to get the discount of X%, I need to pay $60.

                        So, what I want to know, and that this entire topic is about is; is the difference between X% and 100% less than, equal to, or more than $60.

                          Well, you are guessing. The only thing that has been confirmed is that the upgrade fee will not be a nominal fee. Sure, it will most likely be less than if you have an inactive license, but it will be significant.

                            I feel unwanted as a customer and shouldn't really have these mixed emotions about buying a product from someone. Jelsoft should sort this out sooner rather than later.

                            I want to buy a renewal for my product, but feel as if it could be a waste of money to do so...surely thats not something they want to keep quiet about?!

                            I see the team posting in plenty of other topics, so surely they've read and seen this...yet no reply. Not even a 'well let you know' or 'check your pms' or anything.
