I have an smf forum. Im planning on switching over to vbulletin around midweek so Im cleaning things up on the server.
Trying to get all my research/reading ahead of install also. I currently have smf installed in the root directory. when I change over to vbulletin I want to use vbadvanced as a front page. My question is will I need to install vbulletin in a sub folder say /forum ?

If you have SMF installed in the /forum directory than you should install vBulletin in a different folder. Might install it in /forum2 and then you can change the name after you've installed, tested and imported your data.
