And the rhetoric and misconceptions in your post are exactly why the rumors are flying around.

Even if there are rumours flying around wait and see what the announcement is going to be.

As far as I'm concerned, I paid for a year's worth of upgrades and that is what I expect. If the (soon to be) announced changes are as bad as the unmentionable suggests, then I'm leaving.
I have two leased licenses and run two other forums that run on leased licenses belonging to their respective owners. And I have no feelings of loyalty towards any company in the world. If the changes are unacceptable to me, IB will loose 4 lisences. Not to speak of the fact that I have always been recommending vB over IPS in the past and I know for a fact that people bought vB upon my recommendation. In case of unacceptable changes I will do the oposite and I'm sure the same is true of many other customers.
I seriously hope that IB is far sighted enough to understand that they could be doing damage here that cannot be undone.

The whole development of vB4 was a bit of a let-down so far, to be honest. At first it was gonna be a complete rewrite, now it's just gonna be a vB 3.9 calling itself vB 4. Judging from the information that was announced officially so-far.
Rewriting the code "in stages" of releases (vB 4.1, 4.2, etc.) is not a bad idea... But why not call it 3.9, 3.10 etc.? Because that would not justify a fee for upgrading - that's why.
If the unmentionable and the recent development announcements are anything to go by, we won't get a real complete rewrite with fundamental changes until vB5.
In that case I will either stay on vB3.8 or leave vB. Depending on what they plan to do with leased licenses.
I've already looked into alternatives and I will definitely be going for MyBBoard.

        Sorry to rant like that.

Bingo, thats what I purchased and thats what I am entitled to.

If Ibrands does not honor the purchase then I have a feeling many vBulletin customers will be filing lawsuits agains internet brands.

I have read the leaked memos and know the score. IB needs to do the right thing for its customers who have supported the software and company up until now.
Yup I run a BIG Board.

BTW I don't have a problem with the "Suite" idea, but it stinks for those of us who have already purchased the other add ons such as the Blog and bug tracker software.

I hope we don't have to pay for this software again.

I don't think that is very likely. The T&C are subject to change. And if they change substantially to the detriment of one of the parties (like the client, i.e. for us), in most countries you have the right to discontinue the contract. So the worst thing you can do is leave. And that is what I will do if necessary.
