  • Forum Customization?

    Hello,

I was looking at a forum the other day (forum.twivo.com) and was wondering if its possible to make vB look like what they have.

And is it possible to get the links like they do as well? Like the /2-forumname/ and /topic-513/ ?

    Thanks.

The latter required mod_rewrite, or a third party plugin like vbseo (dot com) for version 3 of vBulletin, version 4 will have friendly urls build in by default.

The former is a yes. but you must know a bit about xhtml/css and understand how to use vbulletin's template system.

Data is listed like this for example

    <div class="thread_header">$thread_header</div>

(making this up as i go ..) to display the header of a thread.

You can change everything, but $thread_header , as that would mean the dynamic data for thread header wont populate.

You could do: <p>$thread_header TADA</p> to have it completely change.

XHTML can be used to make the layout however you want it
CSS can be used to make the design however you want it
vBulletin's variables/strings in the templates populate the content as queried by the database.

That looks like an extremely stripped down forum with about 90% of the features ripped out. It will take a lot of knowledge of HTML and CSS to make that happen.

As Floris said, the first part can be done with mod_rewrite.
