  • SMF -> vBulletin?

    Hi,
    I’m not exactly sure if this question should be in this category or not… sorry if I have placed it wrong!
    We are looking at the possibility to convert the database of a SMF 1.1.6 to vBulletin.
    At this point we have 882,117 Posts in 15,051 Topics by 14,041 Members.
    Is it any problems in using the Impex Import System? What data are we losing?

    Yes, we have an importer for SMF. You can read about it here:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex_smf

    Please note that since SMF passwords are encrypted, they cannot be imported. Your users will need to reset their passwords after the import. You can read more about this here:

      Thank you for the fast reply! Is it a possibility that the Impex system not are going to work due to the database size?

        It should work but you may need to make some modifications to the server's PHP and MySQL settings.

          I'm trying to use the impex converter. If I could upload the 70meg .sql file into phpmyadmin. I backed out our smf mysql database and tried to upload it into network solutions through phpmyadmin.

          But I'm getting time out issues, our database is 70 megs. Trying to convert smf 1.1.5 to vbulletin

          Any advise?

          Thank you,
          Debbie
