  • VBulletin Forum Restrictions

    Hello,

    I have two questions:

    1) I want to know if I can have some forums restricted (so only group members can see) and other forums public?

    2) Is there a demo anywhere of the social networking functions that are built in?

    Thanks,

    Glenn

Firstly as all the social networking features are core features, they exist in the admin demo, the only things that don't are the blog add on and the project management add on.

Secondly you can restrict users from being able to see a board and its contents based on user group membership.

For the admin demo see http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo.php

      Where is social networking?

      Thanks for the quick response.

I've run the admin demo and can't find anything that says "social networking" anywhere -- other than social bookmarking.

      Which option is it under?

      Thanks,

      Glenn

Social networking features such as User Albums are scattered throughout the admin CP, some are: User Albums, Social Bookmarks, Visitor Messages, etc.

Most can be found by going to vBulletin Options

Now I'm starting to get it...

          Thanks,

I found the social group options in Admin.

Where do I go in the forum then to create a social group?

            1. Yes, make a usergroup and go into the "Forum permissions" tab to disallow/allow access to forums etc.

            2. As mentioned earlier http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo.php

As for social groups, you need to make sure the specific usergroup has the access to make/see social groups, they can be set in the "Usergroup" then "Edit permissions" tab, its at the bottom.
            Jut a random internet person.

A message to all illegal users!
